My name is Maxime Le Roux. I went to the Ecole Nationale Supérieure Maritime in Le Havre and Marseille, France. I’ve been sailing on merchant marine vessel for 10 years, especially involved in oceanographic mission and offshore works.
I now split my time between providing weather routing advice and working as a captain for the company Jifmar. Over the years, I have gained significant experience sailing across the Atlantic and to Antarctica on my own sailboat.
Starting in 2015, I was trained as a weather router by Pierre Lasnier, a seasoned marine weather forecaster who worked at Meteo France and founded his own company, MeteoMer. Under his guidance, I founded Circum Ocean in 2019, with the idea of consolidating an existing network of weather routers with a strong merchant marine background and solid knowledge in weather routing and oceanography.
Our team oversee a wide range of operations, from ensuring safety during delicate offshore operations to optimizing ocean crossings for cargo sailboats.
